BS in Construction Management - Minors

Many Construction Management students pursue minors in addition to their CM degree. A minor can help you gain additional understanding and skills that strengthen your competitiveness in the job market.   Minors  require that students earn a C or better in every course required for the minor, and that the student maintains at least a 2.0 overall GPA in the minor coursework (this includes counting repeated courses). A listing of all minors at LSU can be found near the front of the LSU General Catalog (p. 27 in the 2008-2009 catalog; see http://www.lsu.edu/catalogs/2008/print.shtml); descriptions of requirements given may be found in the General Catalog under the corresponding college or department overseeing the minor.

To declare a minor, see a counselor in the College of Engineering Dean's Office (3304 PFT Hall). They will enter it into the records system, after which it will appear as a new section on your degree audit. You may enroll in multiple minors.

To earn a minor, you MUST complete minor requirements PRIOR to graduation from LSU; you cannot return later to complete a minor.  However, an incomplete minor will not prevent you from graduating; it will simply be removed from your transcript if you graduate before all minor requirements are completed.

Following is an overview of requirements for minors commonly taken by Construction Management students. Occasionally the requirements noted here may become dated if the minors are changed mid-year.  If interested in pursuing a minor, always contact the College of Engineering Dean's office to get the latest requirements for the minor.

 NOTES:

1)  Courses marked with an asterisk are required courses in the CM Curriculum beginning with the 2006-2007 Catalog and beyond.

2) Students that declare the BADM Minor will also have the required course work for the TECHS Minor, and should consider declaring both.

3) Students may declare the TECHS Minor without the BADM Minor by NOT taking FIN 3715. Students must take MGT 3200, MKT 3401, and one business course elective at the 2000 level and above to satisfy the required nine hours of the business course electives in the curriculum.

4) Students that are on catalog issues prior to 2006-2007 may declare the TECHS Minor by taking IE 3201 as an approved elective. Students must also take MGT 3200, MKT 3401, and one business course elective at the 2000 level and above or FIN 3715 (for the BADM Minor) to satisfy the required nine hours of the business course electives in the curriculum. Students that declare the BADM Minor must also have ACCT 2000 or 2001, ECON 2030 or ECON 2000 & 2010, and ISDS 1100 or equivalent.

5) If a student declares any minor or both minors, they must also complete the required course work with a minimum 2.00 GPA to successfully complete any minor or both minors.

6) To declare any minor or both minors go to 3304 Patrick F. Taylor Hall and see a counselor.
